This action packed one day workshop is designed for comedians and performers of all experience levels who are curious about using clowning techniques to expand facets of their own stage work. In this one day we will create moments of magic and moments of failure, pushing ourselves past our comfort zones and into new comedic territory.
Corey Podell is an actress, director, and teaching artist. Most recently, she directed the stage shows Mr. Chonkers, The Underground Monk Show, Vanessa 5000, Gutterplum, and Queen of Fishtown. Corey is a founding member of the LA based clown troupe ‘Clown Zoo’ and has years of experience performing, teaching and directing at The Groundlings Theater and UCB. Corey's work has been described as 'stupidly beautiful and beautifully stupid' which makes everyone in her family proud, if not slightly confused.
John Norris is an absurdist comedian. He has studied clown, bouffon, mime, theater, and sketch and improv comedy. In 2022, he created the “cult” “hit” “show” called Mr. Chonkers. He has a credit score of well over 600. Which is extremely impressive considering what he’s chosen to do with his life.
